New Baby? Things you Didn't Know you Needed

Whether it's your first bundle of joy or your fourth, bringing home a child is an exciting event. You have the nursery is ready and the family prepared. In fact, you are sure that you have taken care of everything. Every new parent can figure out the most common basics (car seat, stroller, diapers, etc). This is the list of the basics you had no idea you needed.

A Big comfy blanket

You will be spending a lot of time up at night. It is so much nicer to nurse or give a bottle while you are snug in a warm cozy comforter. Also, once you start letting your baby have tummy time, it is nice to throw the blanket down there for him or her.

Diaper genie

You will be going through diaper after diaper and they really do smell. Invest in a diaper genie and keep the smell at bay.
Nipple cream and nipple shields

It takes awhile to work out the perfect breastfeeding strategies. In the meantime, your nipples may get chapped and sore. If you have these items beforehand, you may save yourself a lot of stress.

Baby sling

The freedom that you get from wearing your baby is awesome. She is happy because she is right beside you, and feeling secure. You are happy because you can walk around, type on the computer, or tend to your older children.
Shampoo and Conditioner in one

Although not technically a baby product, it is such a huge time saver. Sometimes you have to sneak that shower in while baby is napping, and the quicker you are in and out, the more likely you are not to have go racing through the house with suds in your hair.

Shout it Out or any stain remover product

That darling little bundle of yours will have the occasional diaper accident and those adorable little outfits may be ruined. Baby poo often does not come out in a regular wash; you have to use a pre-treater first.

Tracksuits for the new mom

Mom will not likely fit back into her pre-baby clothes for a few more months, and no woman wants to wear her maternity clothes after giving birth. Invest in a few chic, stylish tracksuits for Mom, so she can feel good about herself. As an added bonus, the zippered jacket gives easy access to breastfeed.

Stocked fridge
Do not be afraid to take you mother, mother-in-law, and sister up on their offer to cook a casserole for you. Say yes graciously and then freeze it. Also, cook as many healthy and hearty dishes as you can for freezing before you have the baby. A month's worth of not having to make dinner will be well worth the extra time spent now.

These next few weeks are going to be some of the most challenging and rewarding of your entire lives. The above tips should help make those weeks a little bit easier. This list is by no means exhaustive. Look at your lifestyle, ask your friends and family, and see if there are any more tips to make bringing home baby as easy as possible.
